Overall, I was pleased with the entire process. Charlie was very diligent about getting things done according to my wishes and educating me about the various options I have. Before I sign the contract, I went through it very carefully and made some changes. He was accommodating in accepting those changes. For example, the initial contract did not include any installation warranty. I asked for it because the pipes were going through the roof and he gave me a 10 year warranty. During installation, I had some issues as to how he ran the pipes and he changed them according to what I asked.
The only issue I had was the amount of time the entire installation took. For some reason, he could only install on either Fridays or Saturdays. It happened the weather wasn’t cooperating for several weeks, so the final installation was delayed for about 4 weeks. But then that is mother-nature, can’t totally blame him. His installers were very competent and friendly.
Because of the extended period it to me to decide what system to purchase, how and where to install the system, I knew exactly what I was getting. Therefore, there really isn’t anything I would do differently.
However, I would take the claim about the actual saving you might get with a grain of salt, until you have a chance to go through a couple of utility bills. The amount varies depend on the system you choose, the amount of sunny days you get as well as your existing system. My existing hot water uses the oil furnace to preheat and electric to keep it hot, therefore calculating the saving requires comparing both the electric bill and the oil bill with last years. I can’t completely calculate the saving yet because my oil bill is on a year long payment plan thus will take a while to figure out how much oil I’m actually saving.
